The Provision and Use of Work Regulations (PUWER) states that every employer shall ensure that the work equipment is constructed or adopted as to be suitable for the purpose for which it is used or provided.
The electricity at work regulations 1989 states as may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent as far as reasonably practicable such danger.
Although there is no statutory period for inspection of portable equipment, the regime should be appropriate for the environment and duty for which the equipment is used. Initially the onus is on the user to check the equipment prior to use and report any faults. Proof is required to show that the items have been inspected, and Mainlight can provide that testing and proof.
